Speaker

Jude Mikal, PhD
As a senior research fellow in the Pharmaceutical Care and Health Services (PCHS) division of the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, Dr. Jude Mikal was lucky enough to be selected as a member of the wonderful Investigator Development (ID) Core for the C2DREAM center in 2021. As co-investigator for the ID Core, Dr. Mikal develops and delivers educational programming designed to expose the "hidden curriculum" of grant writing and to nurture the next generation of health equity researchers. Alongside his work with new investigators, Dr. Mikal's own research explores the increasingly complex role of social media as a determinant of health (how does social media impact our brains and our bodies), as a by-product of health (how does our health lead to changes in social media engagement), and as an indicator of health status (what can we learn about someone based on their online social interactions).
